McCarter continues IP practice growth with the addition of Isacson in Washington, DC, office.
McCarter & English, LLP, is pleased to announce that John P. Isacson has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property practice in Washington, DC, as a partner. Isacson focuses on representing clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, and medical device industries in patents and patent-related regulatory matters. His clients include internationally recognized research and health care institutions, emerging ventures, investors, and large public corporations.
Isacson complements an expanding IP team at McCarter. In April, the firm added prominent Hatch-Waxman litigation partners David Conlin and Kathleen Carr to the firm’s Boston office.
Jonathan Sparks, PhD, chair of McCarter & English’s Intellectual Property group, said, “We’re thrilled to have John join our team. His experience and client base, combined with his deep understanding of several key industries, fit perfectly with our client base of national and global innovator companies. Being on the ground in DC with John’s significant regulatory knowledge will extend the service offerings we provide our clients.”
“McCarter’s strategic range of practices, beyond IP, and their footprint align perfectly with my practice of protecting the intellectual property assets of innovator companies and maximizing the value of their inventions throughout their life cycle,” said Isacson.
A registered patent attorney, Isacson is a strategic counselor to his clients on all aspects of patent portfolio management. He advises on related regulatory issues with the FDA. He’s also involved in infringement litigation, due diligence, inventorship and ownership disputes, and US Patent and Trademark Office proceedings.
In his pro bono practice, Isacson counsels military veterans through his work with the National Veterans Legal Services Program, an organization that helps veterans obtain disability benefits.
Isacson graduated with honors from the George Washington University School of Law. He received an M.S. in molecular biology and a B.A. in microbiology and scientific ethics from the University of Maryland.
Prior to joining McCarter & English, Isacson was a partner with Troutman Pepper in Washington, DC.
